This article is designed to help students who wish to study Industrial Chemistry under the Faculty of Sciences in The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in (FUPRE ) to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) in Delta State, Nigeria was established and approved by the Federal Executive Council meeting of 14 March 2007 and admitted its first set of undergraduates in 2008.

The university was established under the Federal Government of Nigeria initiative to build a specialized university in the Niger Delta to produce manpower and expertise for the oil and gas sector.

The National Universities Commission(NUC) approved sharing of facilities between the Petroleum Training Institute Effurun and FUPRE until it moved to its permanent site on development of its main campus at Ugbomro, Uvwie Local Government Area in 2010.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Industrial Chemistry;

You require;Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(1) BOWEN and UNIPORT – does not accept Agric Science. UNIPORT does not accept also Biology and requires Mathematics.

(2) MADONNA accepts a pass in English Language.

(3) MAUTECH accepts a pass in Biology.

(4) AJAYI accepts Geography in lieu of Physics and IMSU accepts a pass in English Language under exceptional circumstances.

(5) FED-OYEEKITI and CRESENT does not accepts Agricultural Science.

(6) OAU accept any other subject in lieu of Biology and UNIBADAN requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

(7) KASU does not accept Agricultural Science.

(8) EBSU requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.

(9) FUTA requires five credit passes at NOT more than two sittings. The five subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/ Agricultural Science.

(10) BELLS requires five SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Geography/Further Mathematics/Agricultural Science.

(11) REDEEMERS requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/ Agricultural Science.

(12) RENAISSANCE requires five SSCE credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(13) BSU accepts passes in five (5) prescribed subjects in Preliminary Science of BSU in addition to minimum UTME score. Does not accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(14) UMYUK accepts five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any of Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science or Computer Studies at not more than two (2) sittings.

(15) BASU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Chemistry, Physics and Further Mathematics

(16) LANDMARK requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any one of the following Biology, Geography, Further mathematics, Agricultural Science and Computer studies.

(17) FED-DUTSINMA accepts Five ‘O’ level Credits including: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(18) DELSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credits which must include Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, Physics and one other Science subject.

(19) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.

(20) FED-OYE EKITI requires five (5) credits at SSC (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(21) BUK requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in English xxiii) ILORIN requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(22) EKSU requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.

(23) FED-WUKARI – Candidates must obtain Five(5) Credits at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics obtained from Senior School Certificate(SSCE), National Examination Council(NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) (or its equivalent) or its equivalent. Credit in Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/Fisheries/Forestry can be accepted in place of Biology for B. Sc. Industrial Chemistry only.

(24) MAUTECH requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(25) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(26) UNIPORT – For Industrial Chemistry accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(27) EDSU requires Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science at not more than two sittings.

(28) KASU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and one other Science subject.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Industrial Chemistry under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics/Biology/ Agricultural Science.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(1) BOWEN and UNIPORT do not accept Agric Science.

(2) OAU, DELSU, EBSU, FUTO, BELLS, FUTA require Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry

(3) AJAYI, IGBINEDION, UI, BOWEN and UNIBEN as in Chemistry

(4) WESTERN-DEL and UNILORIN same as in Chemistry

(5) UNIOSUN and EBSU require Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

(6) OSUSTECH requires Chemistry and any two (2) of Physics, Mathematics and Biology/Agricultural Science.

(7) BSU requires Chemistry, Biology and any of Physics or Mathematics.

(8) OOU requires Chemistry and any two (2) of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Geography.

(9) LANDMARK accepts Chemistry and any other two (2) Science subjects. (xii) FED-DUTSINMA requires English Language, Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology or Mathematics.

(10) FED-OYE EKITI requires Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics or Biology.

(11) FUPRE requires Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics or Biology.

(12) BUK requires Chemistry and two (2) of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

(13) UMYUK requires Chemistry and any other two (2) Science subjects.

(14) UNILORIN requires Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(15) EKSU requires English Language, Chemistry, Physics and either Mathematics or Biology.

(16) FED-WUKARI requires Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Biology.

(17) MAUTECH requires Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics/Biology/ Agricultural Science.

(18) UNILAG requires English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any of Biology or Mathematics.

(19) UNIPORT – For both Industrial Chemistry and Pure and Industrial Chemistry requires Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.

(20) EDSUrequires Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics/Biology/Agricultural Science.

(21) KASU requires Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and one other Science subject.

(22) LANDMARK requires Chemistry, and any two science subjects from the following: Mathematics , Physics and Biology/ Agricultural Science.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Industrial Chemistry, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;(i) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics

(ii) ND in Science Technology or ND in relevant programmes with the UTME requirements

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

 

(1) UNILORIN accepts;
a) Three (3) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics with the UTME requirements.
b) does not accept Agricultural Science in 5 O’L requirements.
c) does not accept NCE, ND/HND but accepts IJMB & JUPEB ‘A’ Level.
d) requires ‘A’ Level pass in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(2) BOWEN accept ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and one (1) from Physics or Mathematics .

(3) UNILORIN accepts ‘A’ Level pass in Chemistry and Physics

(4)  EKSU accepts two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics. ND in Science Technology or ND in relevant programmes with the UTME requirements. ND (Upper credit) in relevant field

(5) BOWEN same as in Biochemistry.

(6) UNILORIN accepts A’ level in Chemistry and Physics.

(7) UI do not accept ND/NCE.

(8) ESUT does not require a credit pass in Biology or Agric. Science.

(10) AJAYI requires A’ level passes in Biology and Chemistry or NCE in Chemistry and Physics plus UTME requirements.

(11) UNIBEN in addition to UTME requirements, accepts:
a) ND (Upper credit), HND (lower credit) in Polymer Chemistry or Science Laboratory Technology in relevant subjects.
b) NCE (Overall merit) with credit passes in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(12) EBSU accepts:
a) A good NCE or ND with at least 2.5 CGPA Advanced level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics or Statistics or Physics.

b) HND with CGPA of not less than 2.5 can be admitted into 300 level.

In (A) and (B), candidates must have credit in SSCE/GCE/NECO O’ level in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.

(13) AAUA accepts ND Upper Credit in Chemistry or other related Discipline.

(14) WESTERN-DEL accepts

(a) At least two passes at the GCE ‘A’ Level in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(b) ND/HND with at least lower credit pass in relevant Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), or Polymer Chemistry in the relevant subject area from a recognized Polytechnic. (c) NCE with at least a credit pass in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidate should have an overall merit pass.

(15) UNILORIN does not accept Biology but requires ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Chemistry.

(16) WESLEY UNI accepts:
a) Two “A” level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology in that order.
b) Upper Credit passes in ND in addition to 5 Credits at WASC/GCE O’L / SSCE (or its equivalent).

(17) FUTA accepts ND at Upper Credit level in Science Technology, Food Science and Technology or Textile Technology in addition to the “O” level requirements or Two ‘A’ Level passes in at least two subjects which must include Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics and Biology.

(18) UNIOSUN accepts:
a) ‘A’ level passes in Biology, Geography and Physics in lieu of Mathematics.
b) ND with a minimum of Lower Credit and approved equivalents.

(19) CRAWFORD accepts Holders of ND (ND) certificate with minimum of upper credit pass are eligible for admission into year II (200 Level) provided that their programme cover certain basic courses offered in the school up to the second year. Holders of HND with minimum of lower credit pass are eligible for admission into year II depending on the appropriateness of their requisite academic preparation. Holder of two A ‘level subjects passes including Chemistry and one of Physics, Mathematics are also eligible for admission into year II (200 Level) programme in any of the Chemistry courses. In addition to fulfilling the requirements stated above, a holder of ND, HND or A’ level must also have five O’ level credit passes.

(20) FUTA accepts ND with a minimum of Upper Credit at the ND or equivalent in Science Laboratory Technology, Science Technology, Food Science and Technology or Textile Technology. Also, candidates with GCE ‘A’ Level passes in at least two subjects which must include Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics and Biology are eligible for admission.

(21) BELLS accepts:
a) Two A’ level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
b) ND/HND in related field plus UTME requirements.

(22) FED-OYEEKITI accepts A’ level pass in Physics or Biology.

(23) RENAISSANCE accepts candidates with ND at credit level from a recognized institutions.

(24) OSUSTECH requires:
a) Two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics Mathematics or Biology in that order.
b) National Diploma (ND) with Distinction and Credit passes in relevant subjects.

(25) CALEB accepts ND at Credit level in Science Laboratory Technology or Sciences related studies may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sitting.

(26) UMYUK accepts ND/HND with Chemistry as major or its equivalent with a minimum of lower credit from a recognized institution. NCE Candidates must have Chemistry as major with any of Physics, Biology, Mathematics or other relevant subject or certificate from a recognized institution with a minimum score of 9 points. A level passes in Chemistry and any two (2) from Physics, Biology or Mathematics with a minimum score of 9 points.

(27) BASU requires six (6) points in relevant subjects in IJMB examination or ‘A’ Level examination. The relevant subjects are Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Chemistry, Physics and ‘A’ level Mathematics. ND upper credit.

(28) FED-DUTSINMA accepts Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. OND/NCE with good grades and relevant ‘O’ level subjects.

(29) DELSU requires at least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics

(30) FUPRE requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology.

(31) FED-WUKARI – Direct Entry candidates must obtain at least two ‘A’/ Level passes in Science subjects at GCE A/ Level IJMB/Advanced NABTEB or merit pass at NCE in Chemistry and one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology or at least Credit in OND/HND in relevant field, especially: Laboratory Science Technology from a recognized Polytechnic. Candidate must also satisfy UTME admission requirements of Five (5) credits in relevant field including English and Mathematics.

(32) MAUTECH accepts IJMB/ Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics. ND/HND in Science Technology or ND in relevant field.

(33) LAGOS accepts Very good passes in the following three JUPEB/’A’ -level subjects: Chemistry, Physics and any one (1) of Mathematics and Biology. Candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements.

(34) UNIPORT – For Industrial Chemistry accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or IJMB or JUPEB passes in Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics including UTME entry requirements.

(35) EDSU accepts ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) of Physics and Mathematics, plus the UTME Requirements. ND/HND with Credit passes in relevant programmes from a recognized institution in addition to O’ level requirements. IJMB/JUPEB in relevant subjects.

(36) KASU accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics and Biology. ND/HND/NCE with merit/ Lower Credit in related field in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements. IJMB/GCE ‘A’ Level with 7 points and above.

(37) LANDMARK accepts Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics. ND in Science Technology or ND in relevant programmes with the UTME requirements.

(38) BUK requires;
a) Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Physics.

b) OND in Sciences relevant subjects

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into (FUPRE) for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  180 and above in your JAMB result.
