This article is designed to help students who wish to study Applied Biology under the Faculty of Sciences in Rivers State University as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in RSU to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.
The Rivers State University (RSU) Port Harcourt was established in October, 1980 from the Rivers State College of Science and Technology which was itself established in 1972. It is located at Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Nigeria. It is the first Technological University in Nigeria and the first state owned State University in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The motto of the University is “Excellence and Creativity”. The University has a staff strength of 1,870 and a student population of 29,939 15000. The University is ranked as the 16th 12th among 80 other Universities in Nigeria. The language of instruction in the institution is English.
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Applied Biology;
Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Biology, Maths, Chemistry and any one of Health Science, Statistics, Physics and Geography
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Applied Biology under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;
Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Mathematics.
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Applied Biology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Biology and either Chemistry or Physics.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) RSUST accepts holders of the following qualifications for year II
(a) ND in relevant fields for admissions to 200 level;
(b) HND relevant to the field for admissions to 300 level
All candidates interested in getting admitted into RSU for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
