PROTESTERS TOOK TO THE STREET TO DEMAND POSTPONEMENT OF EXAM DATE- 2018 UTME

Some number of persons took to the street to demand the postponement of the 2018 UTME exam date. Some of which carried inscriptions like, ‘Admissions are yet to close, why conducting another UTME now?, ‘JAMB isn’t for revenue, stop milking our parents, ‘2018 admission not transparent, ‘2017 admission held in May, why March in 2018?

Many people protested about not given admission in their various institutions and now Jamb wants to conduct another UTME examinations immediately. some argued that the 2017 Admission exercise has barely ended so why conduct another exam immediately?

The National President of the Association of Tutorial School Operators [ATSO], Dotun Sodunke commented that “The new Head of JAMB needs to be called to order, he should be carried away by the euphoria of revenue Generation, the Future of this country depends on this children.

He also stated that “JAMB is sure that if they conduct this Exam, many candidates will fail and they will come back next year. This is because their children don’t school here.

The JAMB Spokesman Dr, Fabian Benjamin responded to this, he said ” that there was no basis for postponement of Exam, stating that it is not candidates that are protesting for postponement of Exam date but tutorial centres operators.

He also stated that the tutorial centre operators are doing this because they want to keep the candidates at their centres till May so that they can get more money from them.

He said that the Government wants all all academic calendar to begin by August and that is why all admissions should be over by August this year, which explains why the UTME date has to be fixed in March.
