Egberi Papa aka TIMAYA Instagram (IG) account got hacked and he posted a photo to break the sad news to his fans and followers, but his fans got brutal when they saw that he was in-directing asking them to follow him on his new account.
The fans got brutal because Timaya wasn’t following anyone on his former account that was hacked yesterday. He has more than 500k followers but he did not follow anyone back.
Personally, i don’t see anything wrong with Timaya not following anyone back. Although, i have written about it before now and the title of that article was, Why Is Timaya Not Following Anyone On Instagram?
And on it, i said maybe he wanted to be unique and stand out of the crowd. We have many foreign stars that does not follow anyone back no what matter the personality.
We have the likes of Beyonce, Oprah Winfery, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and many others too numerous to mention. Now the question here is why is TIMAYA different from everyone? Why are the fans mad at him for not following anyone back? Is Timaya the only celebrity that does not follow people back on social media? If the answer is no, then why are people making a big deal out of it?
By the way, Timaya is not following anyone back. And this includes both top celebrities in Nigeria and outside the country. Almost all the celebrities in Nigeria, are following Timaya but he did not follow anyone back in return. So why are his fans complaining when he did not even follow the Legendary singer 2baba.
He did not follow 2baba back and the Legend was fine with it, so why are the fans complaining like it is a big deal. Why are the fans trying to make something out of nothing?
Him not following anyone is his concern and it is not something for people to worry about because it doesn’t mean anything and it doesn’t matter.
Following Timaya back is not a big deal and it doesn’t add a dime in his bank account, so if you like follow him and if you like, don’t follow him, the bitter truth here is, he won’t even notice because he has got more important issues to deal with and he does not have the time to worry about his followers on social media.
And the bitter truth is, if you are his fan and you love his music so much & you don’t follow him because he’s not following you back, you will be the one to be lost out on all his updates, so think wisely before you act. Timaya is a big STAR and not just an ordinary fellow.
The problem i see here is that we Nigerians don’t appreciate our celebrities, we don’t treat them the way that they are suppose to be treated. But rather, we value apppreciat those celebrities abroad.
I know most of us are following stars like Beyonce, Lil Wayne etc. But we are cool because some of us see, these celebrities as supernatural being and we are okay with whatever they do because we feel we don’t have a say in their affairs.
But until the day we learn to support and appreciate our very own, we won’t be appreciated outside and we continue to feel insure outside.
We are still giving an upper hand to the foreigners and neo-colonianism is still going on in the world today and the main reason for this, is because we still allow these people to act God in our midst. And until we put an end to it, nothing can be done and we will still be treated with no value and respect.
Lets us learn how to promote ourselves and stand for each others, because united we stand and divided we fall.
So if Timaya Instagram account has been hacked and he just opened a new account, asking for followers. Why not follow him back instead of asking him questions?
Why not value and respect him?
Why treat him like a star that he is and not like a commoner?
Why not cherish him the way you cherish those celebrities abroad?
Remember those celebrities abroad has million followers and they are not following anyone back and they have never been questioned by their supporters and fans. Rather they get more and more support from them and critics.
We should learn from them and apply it into our everyday lives. And i believe a word is enough for the wise.
