AREWA YOUTHS ARE STANDING FOR TRUTH AND JUSTICE
I am very proud of the stand of the AREWA youths in their stand against injustices perpetrated by some of their leaders and followers in the nation’s politics and now in the evil practice of kidnap and marry syndrome condoned by some of the Emirs in the Northern sphere of the country.
Recently, the Arewa youths have issued a statement that it would stop abduction for marriage as the story of Ese Oruru rages on.
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum ( AYCF) has vowed to stop further abduction for marriage in the region.
This group of youths made the remark in reaction to the public outcry generated by the abduction of Ese Oruru, a 14-year-old girl by 25-year- old Inuwa Dahiru Bala (otherwise known as Yunusa) from Bayelsa State to Kano State.
The AYCF said perpetrators of such crimes should be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Shetima Yerima, the president of the group said: “The issue has been politicized with many people saying different things. Despite this, the We condemn it and stand to say that whoever does such should face the full wrath of the law“ according to a source.
The AREWA youths have said that the action of Yinusa is wrong and they want Appropriate to be meted out to him. The youths have a lot of lessons to learn from the incident. It reinforces the need for every young man to follow due process in issues of marriage.
The youths further said that “It is wrong to force somebody to marry you. It is ethically and morally wrong. Parents too also have good lessons to learn from it because Ese’s parents from all indication are guilty of negligence for the child to have gone out without their knowledge.”
Youths from other regions should learn from the shinning example of the AREWA Youths in matters of national concern and issues that will make Nigeria a united and indivisible entity.
I think that Buhari must learn from this in order to stabilize the unity of our country. Buhari has since assuming office displayed selfishness and parochialism by appointing 80% from the North to the exclusion and detriment of other regions.
This should be condemned by all good ambassadors of this country.
More grease to your elbows, the AREWA Youths Consultative forum.
