Its a very sad event that took place on the 17th of February 2016 in Amassoma- Wilberforce Island in Bayelsa State.

The faculty of engineering students of Niger Delta University had a very brutal protest in the main campus and in the medical campus, College of Health Science (CHS).

Properties were destroyed during the protest by the engineering faculty of Niger Delta University.

The cause of the protest was due to a law that was implemented by the management of the school.

The law states that “any student who fails 3 core engineering courses will have to withdraw from the faculty and go back to 200 level in any other science courses in the department of Sciences”.

After the law of implemented by the school management, more than 30 final year students were affected and was withdrawn from the engineering faculty and was sent back to 200 level in faculty of sciences

The final year engineering students of the school could not bear this huge embarrassment and big disgrace, so they protested and many school properties was destroyed by the protestants especially in the medical campus, College Of Health Science (CHS).

Due to the ongoing feuds in the school, the management of the school has shut down the school indefinitely.

Wow, this not a good news for the students of Niger Delta University ( NDU) as many of them are preparing for their first semester exams.

And many final year students can’t wait to graduate and leave the school for good. This will definitely affect the final year students that are writing project.

What’s your opinion about this? Is the law of the school right? Should a final year engineering student go back to 200 level and in a different faculty?
